I have been studying art and design now for nine years, and I presently receive my education from the University of Michigan. I have a strong gravitation to the human body, but more importantly to its challenges. The topic my work focuses on is how the mind teaches the body to overcome its physical enticements. Whether it be how one gets through a tragic loss or overcomes addiction, the pull between what the body wants and what the mind knows interests me. The power of physical need is quite possibly the greatest force within us. I especially admire the moment when one finally gathers the strength and insight to utilize common sense and realize what is best for oneself. This feat is hardly simple and can set forth a lifetime of mistakes and awakenings. Through a collaboration of media and processes, I attempt to bring the beauty of this journey to light. My hope is that the artwork unravels to offer a unique and timeless tale. |
